The Ilorin Emirate Students’ Union (IESU), Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) Chapter, has extended heartfelt appreciation to the Ilorin Emirate community and the general public following the recent road accident involving some of its members.
In an official statement signed by the Union’s President, Sheikh Hamzah Mustapha Kehinde, and General Secretary, Ibrahim Mustapha Ishola (Ajikobi), the leadership acknowledged the widespread prayers, financial support, and words of encouragement received in response to the tragic incident.
“Your overwhelming show of solidarity during this trying time has greatly eased the burden on our students and the union as a whole,” the statement read.
According to the update, both evacuation buses conveying the injured students have successfully departed Koko General Hospital and are en route to Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), Sokoto. Union executive members are accompanying the students to ensure they receive adequate medical attention and support.
Special appreciation was extended to the Chairman of Koko Local Government for his swift intervention, including a ₦100,000 donation to cover part of the transportation costs and for personally settling the medical bills of the victims.
The union also acknowledged the pivotal role played by Ambassador Turawa Kamaldeen Olaitan in facilitating the LG Chairman’s involvement, describing his support as both timely and impactful.
“We pray to Almighty Allah to grant the affected students a full and speedy recovery, reward all donors and supporters abundantly, and preserve the unity and compassion that bind us as a community,” the union leaders added.
The statement concluded with prayers for continued harmony and progress within the Ilorin Emirate and among all well-wishers.
