The management of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), Port Harcourt, has officially announced the approved modalities and procedures for its 2025/2026 admission screening exercise. In a special release signed by the Registrar on August 10, 2025, the university outlined a hybrid screening process aimed at ensuring transparency, efficiency, and compliance with national admission standards.
According to the statement, the screening exercise will be conducted through the university’s deployed Post-UTME/Direct Entry (DE) Screening System. All prospective candidates are required to present themselves at the university’s main campus in Rumuolumeni for O’level/A’level certificate verification, data screening score ranking, and compulsory biometric capturing. This process will apply to both UTME and Direct Entry applicants.
The release clarified that there will be no further Post-UTME examination for the 2025/2026 academic session. Instead, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) UTME scores will be used as 100% of the assessment criteria for all UTME candidates. Direct Entry applicants will be evaluated based on their uploaded academic documents, with the additional requirement that their certificates must be verified on the Nigerian Integrated Post-Secondary Data System (NIPDS).
IAUE’s admissions unit will rely heavily on the data provided through the JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS). This data, which has also been uploaded to the university’s portal, will undergo careful scrutiny to determine candidates’ eligibility for admission into various programmes. This ensures that only qualified applicants who meet the institutional requirements are considered.
The university further explained that candidates who score high in the UTME but do not rank well after the data screening process may be advised to change their course of study. This is to ensure alignment with departmental cut-off marks, O’level/UTME subject combinations as stipulated in the JAMB Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS), and other programme-specific requirements.
As part of the process, every eligible candidate will receive an official screening invitation sent to their registered email address. This invitation will contain the candidate’s screening date, venue, and other necessary requirements. The institution strongly advised all applicants to regularly check their registered email accounts to avoid missing important updates.
IAUE emphasized that the ranking process will take into account both the UTME scores and the accuracy of O’level subject combinations. Any discrepancies in submitted information or failure to present required documents at the verification stage could result in disqualification from the admission process.
The statement also warned candidates against relying on third-party agents or unauthorized individuals for admission assistance. IAUE reiterated that its admission process is strictly merit-based, in line with the guidelines of JAMB and the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Furthermore, the institution assured applicants that the hybrid screening model, combining digital data verification and in-person documentation checks, is designed to curb malpractice and speed up the processing time for admission offers. This approach, according to IAUE, aligns with global best practices for university admissions.
In conclusion, the university called on all prospective students to prepare all necessary documents, comply with the scheduled screening dates, and adhere strictly to the given instructions. The management expressed confidence that the new admission process will enhance fairness, transparency, and merit in the selection of candidates for the 2025/2026 academic session.
