The Vice Chancellor of Kogi State University, Kabba, Professor K.I.T. Eniola, fNS, on Wednesday led the University Community in the groundbreaking and foundation-laying ceremony of a 1,300-capacity auditorium donated by Dr. John Adegboye, an Australia-based medical doctor and distinguished son of Okun land.
The ceremony, held at the designated project site, was marked by joy and renewed optimism as the institution continues its strategic infrastructure expansion in line with its academic vision.
Joining virtually from Perth, Australia, Dr. Adegboye described the donation as a personal commitment to advancing education and community development. He said the remarkable progress of the University under Professor Eniola’s leadership inspired his decision, adding that he was grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the growth of his homeland.
He extended appreciation to the Vice Chancellor for fostering an environment of excellence and to Venerable Omeiza, who symbolically laid the foundation on his behalf during the ceremony.
In his remarks, Professor Eniola commended Dr. Adegboye for his generosity and foresight, describing the project as “a transformative gift that will significantly enhance both academic and social life on our campus.” He also acknowledged former Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello for establishing the University, which he said continues to advance educational development in the zone and the state at large.
In a symbolic demonstration of unity, the foundation edges were laid sequentially by Rev. Omeiza on behalf of the donor, followed by the Vice Chancellor, the Registrar, and the Bursar.
The event was attended by principal officers of the University, including the Registrar, Dr. J.U. Amodu; the Bursar, Pastor Mrs. Florence Gbodi Alabi; and other senior officials.
