The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has announced that it will conduct a mop-up Post-UTME examination for all candidates who were unable to participate in the earlier scheduled screening exercise. The institution stated that this step was taken to give every eligible applicant a fair chance at securing admission for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to the official announcement, the mop-up examination is slated to hold on Saturday, 23rd August 2025. The test will commence by 12:00 noon at the ICTC, School of Basic Studies, ASHGROVE Academy, University of Port Harcourt. Candidates are expected to prepare adequately and ensure their punctuality, as late arrivals may be denied access to the examination venue.
The mop-up examination serves as an opportunity for candidates who, due to unavoidable circumstances, missed the earlier Post-UTME exercise. University authorities stressed that the exam is not a fresh screening, but strictly a continuation for those already registered within the official admission process. This ensures fairness while maintaining the integrity of the selection system.
UNIPORT has consistently emphasized punctuality and compliance with examination guidelines. The institution therefore strongly advises candidates to arrive early at the venue in order to undergo necessary accreditation procedures. Security checks and identity verification will be part of the entry requirements, as the university continues its effort to maintain transparency in the admission process.
The management further urged candidates to come along with their Post-UTME registration slip, a valid means of identification, and other required documents as specified during registration. Failure to provide these documents may lead to automatic disqualification, regardless of prior eligibility. The university reiterated that the mop-up examination is a one-time opportunity, and no further chances will be provided for defaulters.
In its appeal to candidates, UNIPORT encouraged them to remain focused and adhere strictly to the rules guiding the examination. Candidates were also warned against any form of malpractice, as the institution maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards academic dishonesty. Defaulters found guilty of misconduct will face outright disqualification and possible prosecution.
The mop-up exercise also reflects UNIPORT’s commitment to inclusivity in its admission process. By accommodating those who missed the initial screening, the university ensures that qualified candidates are not unfairly excluded. This gesture is expected to boost the morale of prospective students while strengthening public confidence in the institution’s admission procedures.
With this announcement, all concerned candidates now have a final opportunity to participate in the screening process. The university called on them to take the exercise seriously, noting that performance in the Post-UTME remains a critical determinant in securing admission. As the 2025/2026 academic session draws closer, UNIPORT assures applicants of a transparent, merit-based admission process that rewards hard work and preparedness.
