The Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, has named Dr. Latifat Kehinde Olatinwo as the new Acting Director for the Centre for Gender Studies.
The appointment, confirmed in a notice signed by the university’s Registrar, Dr. Kikelomo W. Sallee, is effective as of August 26, 2025.
Dr. Olatinwo, an Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension Services, brings a wealth of experience to the role.
She joined KWASU in 2017 after previously serving as a lecturer at the Federal University Dutsin-ma in Katsina State. She holds both master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Agricultural Extension from the University of Ilorin, where her research focused on Agricultural Technology Transfer, Women in Agriculture, Youth and Gender, and Rural Development.
Her academic career has been marked by extensive research into gender-related issues, particularly within the context of rural communities.
Dr. Olatinwo’s publications include studies on the impact of climate change on rural women’s livelihoods, differences in food crop diversification between male and female farmers, and the effects of gender on involvement in crop production.
She is also a team member of the Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development (AI4SARD) Research Network. Additionally, Dr. Olatinwo has been actively involved in various community development initiatives aimed at empowering and supporting women in rural areas.
