Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has issued an update to all prospective students for the 2025/2026 academic session, urging candidates to take immediate action to secure their admission status before the October 31, 2025 deadline.
In a special bulletin released by the university’s Public Affairs Directorate on Tuesday, October 21, the management called on all candidates who have been offered admission through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal to promptly accept and print their admission letters via the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS).
According to the bulletin, many candidates recommended for admission by their respective faculties are yet to upload their O’ Level results on the JAMB CAPS platform, which has delayed the completion of their admission processes. The university directed such candidates to visit any JAMB-accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre to upload their results immediately to avoid forfeiting their admission.
“In compliance with the 2025 JAMB policy decision, the admission exercise will close on 31st October 2025. Candidates not admitted into oversubscribed programmes such as Architecture, MBBS, Nursing Science, Doctor of Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Radiography, Dental Surgery, Civil Law, Shariah Law, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mass Communication, and International Studies are advised to change to other relevant programmes with available spaces,” the statement read.
The bulletin included a table listing oversubscribed programmes and alternative courses with available spaces for candidates willing to change. Options include Agricultural and Bio-Resources Engineering, Geography and Environmental Management, Urban and Regional Planning, and various combinations in Science, Social Science, and Arts disciplines.
The university further advised candidates who have changed their programmes to recheck and confirm their O’ Level uploads on the JAMB portal to ensure data integrity, as updates could affect their admission status.
Parents, guardians, and candidates facing challenges were encouraged to contact the university’s admission helplines—07067806821, 08114659297, or 09020017135—between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. for clarification.
The bulletin also noted that staff and guardians who submitted admission requests on behalf of candidates but failed to secure placement are urged to facilitate a course change before the stated deadline, after which the unclaimed slots will be reallocated to other qualified candidates.
The announcement was signed by the university’s management through the Public Affairs Directorate, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
