The Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Professor Adamu Ahmed, on Thursday, 20 November 2025, led a management team on an inspection tour of the Umar Suleiman Hall of Residence to assess facilities in need of urgent rehabilitation.
The visit, undertaken during the students’ vacation period, allowed the Vice-Chancellor and his team to examine the condition of the hostel without disruption. Professor Ahmed expressed concern over the level of deterioration observed in the building and assured that the University would take prompt steps to address the challenges.
Accompanying him on the inspection were the Dean of Students Affairs Division, Professor Sahalu B. Junaidu; Director of Academic Planning and Monitoring, Professor Bello Mukhtar; and the Director of Physical Planning and Municipal Services, Arc. Mohammed Suleiman.
Also present were the Director of Public Affairs, Auwalu Umar; Professor A. A. Murana of the Department of Civil Engineering; Senior Information and Protocol Officer, Ahmad Haruna Waziri; and the President of the Students’ Representative Council, Comrade AbdulRahman Halilu Saraki, among others.
The visit forms part of the University management’s ongoing efforts to improve students’ welfare and upgrade hostel facilities across the institution.
