The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Adamawa State, Mrs. Osoroh Caroline Chinedu, has convened a strategic meeting with Heads of Branches and Units at the NYSC Adamawa State Secretariat, aimed at ensuring the successful implementation of activities outlined in the 2026 calendar year. The meeting was organized to assess the level of preparedness across departments, align responsibilities, and fine-tune operational strategies toward the effective achievement of set goals for the year.
In her welcome address, Mrs. Osoroh expressed profound gratitude to God for the gift of life throughout 2025 and congratulated staff on the commencement of the New Year. She presented the 2025 scorecard, commending the Heads of Branches and Units for their dedication and performances in the outgone year. “The importance of early planning, effective teamwork, and strict compliance with NYSC operational guidelines cannot be overstated,” Mrs. Osoroh emphasized.
The meeting deliberated on key issues such as 2026 goal setting, camp facilities and logistics, security arrangements, corps members’ welfare, medical services, registration procedures, and inter-agency collaboration. Heads of Branches and Units made detailed presentations on their respective areas, highlighting achievements recorded so far and identifying gaps that require urgent attention.
Mrs. Osoroh encouraged innovation and proactive problem-solving, emphasizing that collective effort remains critical to delivering a well-coordinated and successful NYSC programme. The meeting provided an interactive forum for constructive engagement, where challenges were openly discussed and practical solutions proposed.
The Adamawa State NYSC is gearing up for a successful 2026, with the forthcoming 2026 Batch ‘A’ Orientation Course scheduled to commence on January 21, 2026. The course is expected to run for 21 days, with corps members undergoing paramilitary drills, lectures, and social activities designed to prepare them for the service year ahead.
The NYSC programme is a mandatory one-year service for Nigerian graduates, aimed at promoting national unity and integration. The scheme has been in operation since 1973, with the goal of reconstructing, reconciling, and rebuilding the country after the Nigerian Civil War.
The Adamawa State NYSC has identified key areas of focus for 2026, including enhanced security and welfare of corps members and staff, fostering patriotism, and boosting corps members’ personal growth and contribution to national development.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to work collaboratively towards a hitch-free 2026. As the NYSC programme continues to evolve, the Adamawa State NYSC is poised to deliver a well-coordinated and successful programme, in line with the NYSC mandate of promoting unity, discipline, and national development.
