The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has stepped up collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education following a strategic courtesy visit aimed at reinforcing child protection systems within schools.
The delegation from the education ministry, led by Permanent Secretary Mrs Dokunmu Adegbite, engaged officials of the violence response agency on measures to improve safeguarding frameworks across Lagos schools.
Discussions centred on strengthening reporting channels, enhancing referral systems, and equipping educators with the skills to recognise early warning signs of abuse. Both sides emphasised the need for coordinated action to prevent sexual and gender based violence and ensure timely, confidential handling of cases.
Officials also explored practical steps toward building safer school environments where students can learn without fear, supported by structured response systems and continuous capacity development for education personnel.
The engagement reaffirmed a shared commitment to proactive prevention and accountability, highlighting the role of inter agency partnerships in protecting children and promoting safe learning spaces across Lagos State.
