A video circulating on social media has shown a man identified as John Arum Azi, reportedly a student of the University of Jos, appealing for help after being abducted.
In the footage, the victim is seen kneeling while an armed individual stands nearby. He stated that he was travelling to Kaduna when he was kidnapped alongside six others.
The victim disclosed that the abductors are demanding a ransom of ₦30 million for their release and called on members of the public to assist in securing his freedom.
Sources said the student, who resides in Jos, was en route to Kaduna for a repair job at the time of the incident.
It was also gathered that the kidnappers allegedly used the victim’s phone to circulate the ransom video within a school WhatsApp group.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over the safety of students, amid reports of increasing cases of abduction affecting learners in different parts of the country.
