The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of 632,788 candidates who sat for the first day of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), marking the beginning of a phased release process.
The Board confirmed that candidates who wrote the examination on Thursday, April 16, 2026, can now access their scores through its official SMS channels.
The update, monitored by The Nigeria Education News, signals the commencement of result processing for the nationwide examination, which is still ongoing across accredited centres.
To check their results, candidates are required to send “UTMERESULT” via SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during registration. JAMB clarified that, for now, candidates can only view their results, while printing will be enabled at a later stage.
In a strong warning, the Board cautioned candidates against altering or fabricating their scores by manipulating SMS messages from the official platform. It described such acts as criminal offences that will attract strict legal consequences.
JAMB further disclosed that enforcement efforts are already underway, revealing that two candidates and one parent are currently in custody over alleged involvement in result falsification using artificial intelligence (AI) and other digital tools.
The Board stressed that it treats examination malpractice with utmost seriousness and will not hesitate to prosecute offenders found guilty of attempting to undermine the credibility of the examination process.
As the examination continues nationwide, JAMB assured candidates and stakeholders that more results will be released in batches, urging all candidates to adhere to guidelines and maintain integrity throughout the process.
