TASFUED Alumni Reaffirm Commitment to University’s Growth, Back New Vice-Chancellor’s Vision

The Worldwide Executive Council of the Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASFUED) Alumni Association has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the institution’s growth and long-term development, pledging to deepen collaboration with the university management in infrastructure development, student welfare, scholarships, mentorship and resource mobilisation.
The assurance was given during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Ekundayo Oladipo, to congratulate him on his appointment as the sixth substantive Vice-Chancellor of the university and to express the alumni body’s readiness to contribute to the realisation of his vision for the institution.
Leading the delegation, the Worldwide President of the Alumni Association, Mr. Oladeji Bolaji Julius, described Professor Oladipo’s emergence as Vice-Chancellor as a well-earned recognition of his years of academic excellence, administrative competence and unwavering dedication to the advancement of higher education in Nigeria.
He expressed confidence that the new Vice-Chancellor possesses the leadership qualities required to move the university to greater heights, noting that his wealth of experience would strengthen TASFUED’s position as one of Nigeria’s leading universities of education.
Mr. Oladeji reaffirmed the alumni association’s determination to remain a dependable development partner of the university, stressing that the association would continue investing in projects and programmes capable of improving the institution’s academic environment and expanding opportunities for students.
According to him, the alumni body intends to strengthen its interventions through infrastructural development, scholarship schemes, career mentorship, professional networking, advocacy, student support initiatives and strategic resource mobilisation designed to complement the efforts of the university management.
He observed that graduates of the institution owe a collective responsibility to contribute to the continued progress of their alma mater, adding that a united and active alumni association remains one of the strongest pillars for sustainable institutional development.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Oladipo, described the alumni association as one of the university’s most valuable stakeholders whose achievements and contributions continue to enhance the institution’s reputation both within and outside Nigeria.
He emphasised that the success of every globally respected university is largely determined by the strength of its partnerships with alumni, development partners and other critical stakeholders, noting that his administration remains committed to building stronger and more productive relationships with graduates of the institution.
Professor Oladipo commended the association for its remarkable contributions to the physical and academic development of TASFUED over the years, acknowledging projects such as the construction and renovation of hostels, lecture halls and other essential infrastructure that have positively impacted students and staff.
He also praised the ongoing construction of the Alumni Postgraduate Hostel, describing the project as another demonstration of the association’s enduring commitment to improving learning facilities and supporting postgraduate education within the university.
The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that plans are already underway to establish a Directorate of Advancement that will serve as a coordinating platform for the Alumni Association, the TASFUED Foundation and other development partners. According to him, the initiative is expected to strengthen fundraising efforts, improve stakeholder engagement and enhance the university’s national and international visibility.
Expressing appreciation to the leadership and members of the Worldwide Alumni Association, Professor Oladipo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, collaboration and inclusive governance, assuring graduates that their ideas, expertise and support would remain central to the university’s transformation agenda.
He expressed optimism that sustained collaboration between the university management, alumni and other stakeholders would accelerate institutional growth, improve academic excellence and position TASFUED among Africa’s foremost specialised universities of education.
The alumni delegation included the Immediate Past President, Dr. Oyekanmi Abdullahi Abiodun; National Secretary, Mr. Oladele Olufemi; Vice-President, Dr. Bello Adesina; alongside other members of the National Executive Council, while principal officers and members of the university management received the delegation during the visit.
