The National Examinations Council (NECO) has put an end to rumors circulating on social media platforms by confirming that all 72,138 examiners engaged as ad-hoc staff in the 2024 School-based Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) have been paid their allowances in full.
According to a press statement released on 13th November 2024, NECO initiated the payment process on 4th October 2024, addressing any discrepancies in bank details along the way to ensure a smooth reconciliation process. The Council has successfully completed the payment of examiners’ allowances within the timeframe stated in their plan.
Azeez Sani, the Ag. Director of Information and Public Relations at NECO, clarified that any rumors suggesting deliberate non-payment of examiners are false and unfounded. The Council has diligently addressed any issues with incorrect bank details submitted by examiners, ensuring that all 24 banks involved in the payment process have been cleared.
In a bid to maintain transparency and accountability, NECO encourages individuals with concerns or questions about payment to seek clarification directly from the Council before resorting to social media speculation. The Management emphasizes the significant contributions of examiners and other ad-hoc staff to the successful conduct of examinations and reassures them that their remuneration will always be a priority for NECO.
With this latest development, NECO aims to uphold professionalism and fairness in its examination processes while valuing the dedication and hard work of all individuals involved in their operations.
