Jide Badmus, a Nigerian author, says he has been able to raise just 11 percent of the £7,475 necessary for his relocation to the United Kingdom.

Last month, Badmus announced a fundraiser to support his relocation from Nigeria to the UK after he was endorsed by the Arts Council England over his contributions to the literary community.
www.thenigeriaeducationnews.com had an eclusive interview with him, Badmus said he got the endorsement on October 29 and had only three months to raise the required funds.
He said he would require a total of £7,475 for the relocation, adding that £5,175 would cover mandatory healthcare insurance (IHS) for five years, £1,500 for accommodation for the first 3 months and £800 for flight costs to the UK (£800).
“I got the endorsement on 29th of October, and I have three months to actually do the second stage. I spent roughly a month trying to raise funds personally, privately and at the end of the day, a couple of friends said I need this,” he said.
“So we thought let’s put this out and see what we can do. I think before I left home, it’s now about 850 pounds, though.
“We also got some naira but apart from that we are just at 11% of our target. I have also shared with some people privately and others have promised to get back to me.
Badmus said though time seems not to be on his side, he is hopeful that he will reach his goals.
“Yet, we are at 11 percent of the target and I have less than two months. I’m hopeful,” he added.
At the time www.thenigeriaeducationnews.com checked his GoFundMe Page, he had accrued a donation of £1, 105 – less than 15 percent of the target fund.
