A series of misleading reports have been circulating on social media, alleging a rift between two highly respected sons of Iyín Ekiti: Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo (Asiwaju of Iyín Kingdom) and Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (Oluomo of Iyín Kingdom), regarding the siting and formal take-off of the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences in Iyín Ekiti.
The Oluyin of Iyín Ekiti has come out to categorically deny these claims, stating that they are “false, misleading, and entirely baseless.” According to the monarch, “To the best of my knowledge, there is no disagreement between Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo and Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele on this matter, or on any other issue.”
The reports also insinuated that the Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, is obstructing the university’s take-off. However, the Oluyin of Iyín Ekiti affirmed that “there is no obstruction of any kind from Governor Oyebanji.”
The Oluyin attributed these narratives to “mischief-makers, aided and abetted by social media elements, with no regard for the truth or the collective interest of Iyín Ekiti.” Their sole intention, he said, appears to be to sow discord in the otherwise peaceful and united community.
The monarch emphasized that Iyín Ekiti remains united and committed to the successful take-off of the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences. The collective focus, he said, is on the immense development this institution will bring to Iyín Ekiti, Ekiti State, and Nigeria at large.
According to the Oluyin, “We are fortunate to have illustrious sons and daughters, both at home and in the diaspora, working tirelessly and collaboratively to ensure the progress of our land across all fronts.”
The Oluyin of Iyín Ekiti reiterated that the town’s unity and commitment to the university’s success remain unwavering. The monarch’s statement aims to set the record straight and reassure the public about the collaborative efforts of Iyín Ekiti’s leaders.
The Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences is expected to bring significant development to the region, and the people of Iyín Ekiti are eagerly awaiting its take-off.
The Oluyin’s Palace has urged the public to disregard the false narratives and focus on the positive impact the university will have on the community.
With this clarification, the people of Iyín Ekiti can look forward to the university’s successful take-off, driven by the collective efforts of its leaders and stakeholders.
