The Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators (ANUPA), Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna) Chapter, has concluded a three-day in-house training and award presentation programme for staff of the Registry Department.
Held at the National Communications Commission (NCC) Hall, Main Campus, Gidan Kwano, the event, which commenced on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, was themed “Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Effective and Efficient Administrative Professionalism.”
Declaring the workshop open, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Engr. Prof. Abdullahi Mohammed described the Registry as pivotal to university administration. He noted that the integration of artificial intelligence is transforming conventional office operations, enhancing communication, streamlining documentation, and increasing overall administrative efficiency.
Prof. Kuta assured awardees that their contributions would not be forgotten, remarking that their names would be “written in gold” in the annals of the University. He urged participants to take full advantage of the training and apply the skills acquired in their daily administrative responsibilities.
In his welcome address, Chairman of ANUPA FUT Minna Chapter and Deputy Registrar, Dr. Muhammad D. Nakaka, stated that the training was aimed at strengthening the capacity of Registry staff by equipping them with knowledge of AI tools applicable to administrative tasks. He expressed appreciation to the University Management for its continued support in fostering professional development.
Delivering the keynote lecture titled “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence Administration,” former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. O.O. Morenikeji, said AI technologies can simulate human thinking and enhance problem-solving capacities. He illustrated how AI can simplify the preparation of reports and meeting minutes by generating content from key discussion points, thereby saving time and improving accuracy.
Other resource persons at the event included: Dr. T. Folorunsho (Department of Mechatronics Engineering), who presented on “Application of AI for Effective and Efficient Administrative Professionalism.”
Dr. O.S. Akande (Department of Urban and Regional Planning), who delivered sessions on “AI Tools for University Administrators” and “Techniques for Writing Minutes/Reports Using AI.”
Speaking during the event, the University Registrar, Mallam Danladi Mallan, acknowledged ANUPA’s role in ensuring the smooth operation of the University system. He emphasised the need for continuous professional development to align with evolving demands in higher education administration.
A key highlight of the event was the presentation of Awards of Excellence to four distinguished former registrars and senior administrative professionals in recognition of their outstanding service to the University.
The honourees were: Mr. Amos Nmadu Kolo, Mrs. Azumi Salamatu Ahmed Ndayako, Mallam Muhammad Babajiya Bida and Mallam Abubakar Mahmoud Muhammad
Responding on behalf of the recipients, Mrs. Ndayako expressed gratitude to the University Management and ANUPA for the honour and recognition.
In his vote of thanks, the Deputy Vice Chairman of ANUPA, Mallam Ahmed Kabir, commended the Vice-Chancellor for his steadfast support and commitment to staff development programmes.
