The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has officially released the minimum acceptable Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scores for its 2025/2026 admission screening exercise. This was disclosed through an official circular from the Office of the Registrar, signed by Mr. Emmanuel Adohoje, on behalf of the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Olubunmi Shittu. The university’s management made the decision in line with the outcomes of the recent JAMB policy meeting.
According to the circular, FUOYE’s admissions committee, after a comprehensive deliberation, approved varied minimum scores for different programmes across its faculties. The aim is to maintain academic quality while aligning with national admission benchmarks as guided by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Prospective applicants into FUOYE’s College of Medicine will face the highest cut-off marks. Medicine and Surgery leads with a score of 270, followed by Nursing at 260, and Medical Laboratory Science pegged at 240. Anatomy and Physiology were set at 180 and 220 respectively. Radiography and Radiation Science also require a minimum of 220.
For programmes in the Faculty of Arts, English and Literary Studies and History and International Studies each require a minimum of 200. Philosophy was set at 180, while Linguistics and Religious Studies were approved at 160. Theatre and Media Arts was set at 200, making it competitive within the humanities.
In the Communication and Media field, Mass Communication has a required UTME score of 220, while Journalism, Broadcasting, and Public Relations are each listed at 180. These programmes, though not as highly ranked as Medicine, remain popular choices and have attracted a growing number of applicants in recent years.
Candidates applying to any of FUOYE’s Education programmes will require a minimum score of 160, irrespective of the discipline. These include Educational Management, Guidance and Counselling, Library and Information Science, Health Education, and others such as Biology Education, Physics Education, and Educational Technology. English Language Education and Economics Education were set at 160 as well.
The Faculty of Engineering continues to command high standards. Interestingly, Agricultural and Bio-Resources Engineering was listed at 160, making it one of the most accessible engineering programmes.
In the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management, Architecture requires a score of 180, while Building, Estate Management, Urban and Regional Planning, and Surveying and Geoinformatics were all listed with a minimum score of 160. These programmes provide important career pathways in urban development and real estate.

A major highlight is the Faculty of Law, which remains one of FUOYE’s most sought-after departments. In line with national trends, the university fixed the cut-off for Law at 260, making it one of the most selective courses in the institution, second only to Medicine and Nursing.
Science-based programmes such as Biochemistry, Microbiology, Computer Science, and Cyber Security all require UTME scores ranging from 200 to 220. Courses like Animal and Environmental Biology, Geology, Mathematics, and Plant Science and Biotechnology have more moderate thresholds at 160. The new courses in Software Engineering, Data Science and Analytics, and Systems Engineering also follow this pattern with minimum scores between 180 and 200.
The Faculty of Social Sciences features departments such as Economics (220), Political Science (200), Peace and Conflict Studies (180), and Psychology (160). Criminology and Security Studies, which has recently gained popularity, was placed at 220, while Sociology and Demography were pegged at 160.
For candidates interested in agricultural programmes, all departments under the Faculty of Agriculture have a minimum cut-off of 160, except for Food Science and Technology, which was fixed at 180, and Hospitality and Tourism Management, also at 180. These programmes remain relevant to Nigeria’s food security and agro-industrial development ambitions.

The university emphasized that only candidates who meet or surpass the stated cut-off marks will be eligible to participate in the next stage of the admission process.
