Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, has successfully inducted its eighth set of engineering graduates into the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), marking another significant milestone in the institution’s ongoing quest to produce technically proficient, ethically responsible, and globally competitive professionals. The induction ceremony, which took place on Thursday, October 16, 2025, brought together notable figures from academia, the engineering profession, parents, and well-wishers who converged to celebrate the accomplishments of the new engineers.
In his address, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Sunday Babatunde Adeyemo, FNSE, FNIMechE, JP, lauded the Founder of Elizade University, Chief Michael Ade. Ojo, for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the advancement of education in Nigeria. He noted that Chief Ojo’s philanthropy and foresight continue to inspire the university’s steady growth and its pursuit of academic and professional excellence. Prof. Adeyemo emphasized that “engineering is more than a career; it is a calling to create, to solve problems, and to improve the quality of human life.”
He urged the graduating engineers to embody innovation driven by integrity and to always place humanity at the heart of their professional endeavors. According to him, the engineering profession is not only defined by technical competence but also by the ethical responsibility that engineers owe to society. “As you enter the professional world, remember that your designs, decisions, and innovations will affect lives and communities. Therefore, approach your work with a sense of duty and compassion,” he admonished.

Reaffirming the university’s mission, Prof. Adeyemo restated Elizade University’s commitment “to producing graduates who are well-rounded, innovative, and globally competitive.” He expressed confidence that the newly inducted engineers would carry the institution’s values into the wider world, contributing meaningfully to technological progress and sustainable national development.
The Guest Lecturer, Professor Sesan Ayodeji, FNSE, of the Department of Industrial and Production Engineering, Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), delivered a thought-provoking lecture titled “Engineering, Your Future: Navigating the Transition from University to Industry with Purpose and Passion.” In his address, Professor Ayodeji highlighted the need for adaptability, creativity, and resilience as the graduates move from the structured environment of academia into the dynamic and unpredictable realities of the engineering industry. He urged them to “embrace challenges as opportunities to innovate and to always lead with purpose and passion.”
Also speaking at the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Environmental Sciences, Engr. Prof. Dare Adetan, FNSE, congratulated the new engineers and encouraged them to remain lifelong learners in order to stay relevant in an ever-evolving technological landscape. He emphasized that the NSE induction symbolized not just a professional milestone but a lifelong commitment to excellence, ethics, and national development. “The NSE badge is not merely a title; it is a promise to serve humanity through innovation, diligence, and integrity,” he stated.
Prof. Adetan further underscored the vital role of engineering in solving contemporary problems and driving Nigeria’s development agenda. “Engineering, at its core, is about problem-solving and nation-building. Every technological advancement begins with the imagination and precision of an engineer,” he noted, charging the graduates to take pride in their contribution to the country’s socio-economic transformation.
In his goodwill message, the Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Ondo State Branch, Engr. Oluwaseun Adeyeye, FNSE, FNICE, emphasized the importance of collaboration, innovation, and professionalism in addressing the challenges facing the engineering profession. He called on the inductees to uphold the core values of the NSE and to seek continuous improvement through mentorship, research, and professional networking.
Engr. Adeyeye reminded the new engineers that the world is in dire need of creative solutions to complex global challenges such as climate change, infrastructure decay, and energy sustainability. He encouraged them to position themselves as innovators and solution providers who can make meaningful contributions to society through applied engineering knowledge.
