In a heartfelt message to the entire university community, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), expressed her deep gratitude for the success of the 28th Convocation Ceremony, which concluded on Thursday, April 10, 2025. Her words of appreciation highlighted the unwavering dedication and collective effort that made the event a monumental success, celebrating both academic achievement and the spirit of unity that defines LASU.

The journey to the Convocation began on Thursday, April 3, with a press conference that set the stage for a week-long celebration of academic excellence. From that very first day, the commitment of LASU staff was evident, and their enthusiasm was contagious, contributing to the smooth execution of the event from start to finish.
Professor Olatunji-Bello acknowledged the tireless work of the university’s staff members, recognizing the passion and determination that went into ensuring every aspect of the ceremony was perfectly executed. She emphasized that the success of the event was a direct result of the collective efforts of everyone involved, particularly the Chairman and members of the Ceremonies Committee, as well as volunteers, service departments, and units.
A special mention was made of the 11,917 graduating students, whose academic journey was celebrated during the ceremony. According to the Vice-Chancellor, the success of these students was not only a testament to their hard work but also to the guidance, support, and encouragement provided by the entire LASU community.
The Vice-Chancellor’s appreciation extended to all the individuals who played a role in making the Convocation a memorable occasion, underscoring the importance of teamwork and collaboration in achieving greatness. “In the face of challenges, we stood together as one, with the singular goal of creating a meaningful experience for our graduates,” she said.
