The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education in Lagos State, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, has directed ministry officials to commence immediate monitoring and inspection of schools across the state following the resumption of the third term for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The directive comes as public and private primary and secondary schools, alongside government technical colleges, resumed academic activities on Monday, May 4, in line with the approved school calendar.
According to the ministry, the inspection exercise will focus on key areas including safety compliance, environmental sanitation, student attendance, and the overall readiness of schools to begin academic work without delay.
School administrators have also been instructed to resume fully from the first day, maintain proper documentation, and ensure that teaching and learning activities commence promptly to avoid disruptions to the academic schedule.
The announcement was formally communicated by the Permanent Secretary, Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, who reaffirmed the state government’s expectation that schools adhere strictly to operational standards at the start of the term.
The move signals a renewed push by the state to ensure a more structured and effective take-off for the final term, amid recurring concerns about delayed attendance and slow academic engagement in the early days of resumption.
