Students of Obafemi Awolowo University have taken to social media to express frustration over transportation challenges on campus, describing the situation as increasingly difficult for academic activities.
Posts seen by The Nigeria Education News on X highlighted concerns over long queues and delays, with students saying the current transport system has disrupted their daily routines.
According to one post, students now leave their hostels as early as 6 AM in order to meet up with 9 AM lectures due to the time spent waiting for available transport.
The complaints follow recent restrictions on motorcycles and commercial buses within the campus, leaving many students to rely largely on Compressed Natural Gas buses.
Students claimed that the available buses are insufficient to meet demand, resulting in overcrowding and extended waiting times across major bus stops.
“This is my fourth year in this school, and I have never experienced this type of queue,” one post read, reflecting the growing frustration among students.
The situation has also been linked to a recent 72-hour lecture boycott organised by the students’ union, which, according to posts, has not led to any noticeable improvement.
Some students argued that while new transport initiatives are expected to improve mobility, the current arrangement has made movement across campus more stressful rather than easier.
