The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, Prof. Akeem Olawale Lasisi, alongside members of the University Management, has honoured a 400-level MBBS student, Bakiyah Okedeji, for her exceptional academic performance.
Bakiyah, with matriculation number 2022/MBBS/067, was recognised during the University Management Meeting held on May 4, 2026, after emerging as the Overall Best Student in Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry.
The recognition, according to the university, was in appreciation of her outstanding commitment to academic excellence, discipline, and consistency in her studies.
Speaking during the presentation, Prof. Lasisi described the student’s achievement as a product of hard work, resilience, and dedication, noting that her success reflects positively on the institution’s growing academic reputation.
The Vice-Chancellor stated that the accomplishment should serve as motivation for other students within the university community to remain committed to excellence and scholarly discipline.
He further encouraged Bakiyah to sustain the momentum as she advances in her medical training, stressing that excellence requires continuous effort, focus, and determination.
According to him, the medical profession demands not only intelligence but also perseverance, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Members of the University Management also commended the student for distinguishing herself academically and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to recognising and rewarding outstanding academic achievements.
